The lecture event of Sri Rajesh Purohit

2018, 22-February : The Kolkata Society for Asian Studies (KSAS) views the developmental activities of the Asian communities and societies by concentrating on different disciplines of social sciences like Archaeology, Anthropology (Physical, Social and Cultural), Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, Economics, Education, Folklore and Culture, Gender Studies, History, International Relations, Linguistics, Museology, Sociology and others. Chinese Studies in relation to Indology is viewed emphatically. The research programs of the society integrally serve the interest of the nation in particular and of the humanity at large. In this point of view the society is trying to explore the possibilities of the societal development of the Asian countries with special reference to India. The lecture event of Sri Rajesh Purohit (Director, Indian Musium) is the first lecture of a series on Indian Archeological Excavations of Epic Sites. In every year KSAS will organise two lectures of this particular series and publish those lectures as monograph. It can make an important documentation on the field of archaeology, history and of course in overall social and cultural anthropology.
The topic of the above lecture session is “REVISITING THE EPIC SITE - KURUKSHETRA – ARCHEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS AND EXCAVATIONS”, to be organized jointly by Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata and Kolkata Society for Asian Studies on 26 February 2018 from 3:00 pm to 5:00pm at the Conference Room of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Azad Bhavan, I-B 166, Sector III, Salt Lake, Kolkata – 700 106.
