Language Day, The 21st February

icon          2018, 21ST February : We do not need to speak every time we wish to express ourselves. However, there is no denying the fact that language has its own significance in any civilization, even more of your mother language. None of the expressions and feelings like laughter, lament, sadness, happiness, pain, distress require a language for manifestation. However, one must admit that the use of mother language is significantly inevitable for creative development of any civilization. Michael Madhushudhan Dutta is a perfect example in this context. The world has been a witness to many movements for sustaining people’s love for their mother language and its vitality. A great revolution of such a kind was carried out by the students of the University of Dhaka on 21 February 1952. The 21st day of February was officially declared as the International Mother Language Day by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on 17 November 1999. The International Mother Language Day has since then been celebrated all around the world.
